Lost in the wildwood where no path would lead,
Branches claw the sky and choke the need,
Footsteps echo hollow through the gloom,
A soul adrift before the gates of doom.

Then something ancient stirs within the shade,
A whisper offers passage, unafraid,
Down we turn where daylight fades to black,
The journey calls—no turning back.

Down we spiral, deeper still we fall,
Layers turn and claim us, one and all,
Echoes rise from sins we cannot flee,
In this realm where mercy ceases to be.

Oh, where mercy ceases to be.

Gray horizons stretch without a sound,
Figures drift like leaves upon the ground,
No flame, no lash, yet joy remains denied,
Forever paused on the other side.

Down we spiral, deeper still we fall,
Layers turn and bind us, one and all,
Echoes rise from choices left undone,
In this realm where light has come undone.

Oh, where light has come undone.

Sighs hang heavy in the windless air,
Virtue lingers but it leads nowhere,
Trapped between what was and what could be,
The first gate opens silently.

Down we spiral, deeper still we fall,
Layers turn and swallow one and all,
Echoes rise from lives that almost shone,
In this realm where hope is overthrown.

Oh, where hope is overthrown.
Where hope is overthrown.
Where hope is overthrown.
